sort of focus on Java on mobile is very much underrated and under-provided for
at the moment. The mobile community mindset is still in goldrush-mode on iPhone
and Android which these days are for many (most by some account?) developers
not profit makers (though there are some truly excellent apps available for
them and they provide a benchmark for apps on other platforms)… J2ME is still
living under the cloud of it's historic technical and other failures, and yet
it is significantly more stable and reliable and less fragmented than it used
to be. And the blunt truth of it being on 3-4 billion handsets (or more?) - of
which enough of a fraction are indeed reachable to make the platform worth
serious effort and renewed mind share from developers.”
